Yuta Okkotsu is one of the special-grade sorcerers and the main protagonist of Jujutsu Kaisen 0: Jujutsu High. Fans will remember a special mention of him in Season 1, where Gojo mentions that Yuta is currently overseas on a special mission.
Confirmation of this is shown in a post-credit scene of Jujutsu Kaisen 0: Jujutsu High where Yuta is seen enjoying a hearty meal of beef stew in Africa with Miguel when Gojo Satoru suddenly shows up.
This event happens in a timeline until and after the Shibuya Incident. It will be interesting to see whether Yuta Okkotsu makes a return in Season 2. Season 2 is based on two arcs, the Gojo’s Past Arc, and the second part will be based on the arc which revolves around the post-Shibuya incident.
There are chances of Yuta Okkotsu being introduced during the Shibuya incident but according to the Manga, the chances are very slim.
Who is Yuta Okkotsu?
*SPOILERS AHEAD FOR JUJUTSU KAISEN 0*
Yuta Okkotsu is initially introduced as a victim of a Special-Grade Curse who is haunted by the spirit of his childhood friend Rika Orimoto. Satoru Gojo takes him under his care and enrolls him at Tokyo Prefectural Jujutsu High School. After months of training with Gojo, Maki Zen’in, Panda, and Toge Inunaki he finally masters his jujutsu techniques.
The power of Rika attracts Suguru Geto who launches an attack against all the Jujutsu Kaisen High School sorcerers. Geto manages to find himself alone with Yuta and the two battle it out. Yuta promises to join Rika if she helps him defeat Geto.
The duo manages to overpower Geto and defeat him. Afterward, it is revealed that Yuta is actually a curse user himself and accidentally cursed Rika when they were young in order to save her. He sets her free from the curse.
Yuta is now one of the three remaining Special Grade Curse Users. Yuta originally is a descendant of Sugawara Michizane, which means he and Gojo are super distantly related. Sugawara is one of the Big Three Vengeful Spirits.
Well, Yuta will eventually make a return in Season 3 of the show, chances of him appearing towards the end of Season 3 are likely. Gojo in a post-credit scene of Jujutsu Kaisen 0 does meet up with Yuta and speculations arise that is to bring him back to Tokyo.
