Season 7 Has Not Been Confirmed Yet
The bad news is that Line of Duty season 7 has not been officially confirmed by the BBC or the show’s creator, Jed Mercurio. The good news is that Mercurio has expressed his interest in continuing the story, as long as the BBC is willing to renew the show. In an interview with Radio Times, he said: “We’re in a situation where it’s not entirely clear that there will be a seventh series. We would hope there could be. But we’re having to do our planning coming out of COVID, and a whole bunch of other things around the idea that these things aren’t guaranteed at all now.”
Mercurio also hinted that season 7 could explore the aftermath of season 6’s big reveal, which exposed the identity of the mysterious “H” or “the fourth man”, who was behind the organized crime network that had infiltrated the police force. He said: “I think we have to accept that we don’t know if there will be another series. I think what we do know is that season six proves there is much more ground for us still to cover.”
