Japanese TV channel TV Asahi announced that they are working on a new original anime titled “Our Rainy Protocol”, which revolves around the topic of eSports. You can find a first trailer as well as a visual further down in this article.
Series to start in October 2023
“Our Rainy Protocol” is being created under the direction of Chief Director Yasutaka Yamamoto (“Aharen-san wa Hakarenai”), who is also doing series composition with Katsuhiko Takayama (“Magia Record”), and director Daishi Katou (Episode Director on “JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure”) at Studio Quad. Kanna Hirayama (“Oshi no Ko,” “Rent-A-Girlfriend”) contributes character design.
The main cast features Kenshou Ono (Canute in “Vinland Saga”) as Shun Tokinoya, Sora Amamiya (Aqua in “KonoSuba”) as Yuu Saegusa, Inori Minase (Rem in “Re:ZERO”) as Nozomi Inatsuki, Momo Asakura (Iroha in “Magia Record”), and Ryouhei Kimura (Saitou in “Handyman Saitou in Another World”) as Akito Sendou. Satoru Kousaki and MONACA are responsible for the music.
The idea on the series is credited to “Team KITSUNE” as well as the Kotsu Kotsu group, led by light novel writer Tetsuya Sano (“You Shine in the Moonlight”). The original design is by booota. Broadcasting on Japanese television is scheduled to begin in October 2023.

Storyline:
Shun Tokinoya is a normal high school student who lives with his mother and younger sister. After his father’s accidental death and his sister’s injury, he gave up his passion, gaming, and now works at an eSports cafe called FOX ONE.
However, it turns out that FOX ONE has large debts. To pay back the debt, Shun and his childhood gaming friends participate in the “Xaxxerion Championship” tournament to win the tournament’s prize money. Feeling guilty, Shun dives back into the world of online gaming where he is confronted by a former acquaintance.
