No Hard Feelings, a movie starring Jennifer Lawrence, did not receive favourable reviews. The movie’s tale of helicopter parents who hire a lady to date their teenage son has also stirred up controversy. Because of its premise—an older woman (32) and a much younger man (19) participating in a love relationship at the boy’s parents’ request—some viewers have even referred to No Hard Feelings as “creepy.”
No Hard Feelings’ premise was actually based on a real Craigslist ad that one of the film’s producers, Naomi Odenkirk, stumbled onto. For better or worse for 19-year-old virgins and their despairing parents, the “Casual Encounters” section of the website no longer exists, as Odenkirk revealed to ET during a fruitless hunt for something entirely else on Craigslist. The “fossilized Craigslist ad” that served as the basis for No Hard Feelings was then found by her, shared with co-producer Marc Provissiero, and the rest, as they say, is funny, horny history once they handed the idea on to director Gene Stupnitsky.

What the team of No Hard Feelings have to say about the parents hiring someone to date their son controversy
The Hollywood Reporter was told that the movie is a “cautionary tale” by Laura Benanti, who plays the mother of the boy.
She said that she believes the movie is a “very satirical look..” “If you are a helicopter parent who puts your child in such a bubble, they do not know how to exist outside of that bubble, you are going to make the exact opposite and insane choice, which is what they are doing here,” she said.
She added that she believes the movie is a “very satirical look at what can happen” if you don’t give your children the freedom to discover life on their own and end up “curating their life forever.” She continued, “If you are a helicopter parent who puts your child in such a bubble, they do not know how to exist outside of that bubble, you are going to make the exact opposite and insane choice, which is what they are doing here.
Marc Provissiero, the movie’s producer, claimed that he originally intended to turn the book How to Raise an Adult into a movie on helicopter parenting. The film’s original Craigslist ad was then presented to him by fellow producer Naomi Odenkirk.
Regarding the age gap between the two major characters, the filmmaker notes that Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper’s co-star in the movie Silver Linings Playbook are 15 years apart in age.
Sanford Panitch, head of Sony Pictures Motion Picture Group, dismissed the debate around No Hard Feelings by saying, “It’s just a great amusing movie.
