Revenant is an upcoming South Korean thriller mystery series which is written by Kim Eun-hee. The story revolves around the main protagonist, Kim who is working hard towards her goal of clearing the civil service exam. One day she receives her late father’s belongings and soon after that, unnatural deaths start occurring around her. She seeks help from Yeom Hae, a folklore professor who can see ghosts and is after a ghost that killed his mother. Lieutenant Lee Hong also helps the duo in their quest.

Revenant is scheduled to premiere on SBS TV on June 23, 2023, and will also be exclusively streaming on Disney+. The 12 episodes of Revenant will air weekly on Fridays and Saturdays at 22:00 (Korean Standard Time)

The Cast of Revenant 

The show which also goes by Devil or Akgwi (악귀) stars Kim Tae-ri, Oh Jung-se, and Hong Kyong playing the lead roles.

Kim Tae-ri

Kim Tae-ri was born on April 24, 1990, in Seoul and graduated from Youngshin Nursing Business High School. She also has a degree in Journalism and Communication from Kyung Hee University. Kim found her passion in acting after joining the theater club in college.

She began her acting career by playing small roles in theater plays. She worked for a year as a member of the technical crew of Iru theatre troupe before making her debut in ‘Pansy’. She also made appearances in ‘Ask for Love’ and ‘Spoonface Steinberg’.

Kim made her debut in the film ‘The Handmaiden’ for which she won Best New Actress at Blue Film Awards, Buil Film Awards, and Busan Film Critics Awards. She has also starred in movies like ‘Little Forest’ and ‘1987: When the Day Comes’.

In Revenant, she plays the role of a young woman preparing for the 9th-grade civil service exam. She previously was on the show Twenty-Five Twenty-One where she played the role of Na Hui-do.

Oh Jung-se

Oh Jung-se was born on January 26, 1977, and is a popular South Korean actor. He graduated from Sun Moon University with a degree in Mass Communications and began his acting career soon after.

He is best known for his roles in the series, ‘Missing 9’, ‘When the Camellia Blooms’, and ‘It’s Okay to Not Be Okay’. He has won the Baeksang Arts Award for Best Supporting Actor twice. (2020 & 2021)

Other projects include ‘Perhaps Love’, ‘Seoul Vibe’, and ‘Switch’. Oh Jung-se plays the role of Yeom Hae-sang who has the ability to see spirits and ghosts. In the series, he comes from a wealthy family and is a University folklore professor.

Hong Kyung

Hong Kyung is a South Korean actor born on February 14, 1996. He soon made his acting debut after graduating in the television series ‘Queen of Mystery’. He is best known for his role in the film ‘Innocence’ for which he won a Baeksang Arts Award.

He has also starred in other series such as ‘Hotel Del Luna’ and ‘The Effect of a Finger Flick on a Breakup’. In Revenant, Hong Kyung plays the role of Lee Hong-sae who is a lieutenant in the Seoul Metropolitan Government’s Violent Crime Investigation Unit.

The series also stars Kim Hae-sook, Park Ji-Young, Kim Won-hae, Yang Hye-ji and Jin Seon-kyu.
