In Star Trek Picard Season 3, Brent Spiner returns, though not as Data. What role will the TNG star play in the final season?
- Brent Spiner returns in Season 3 of Star Trek: Picard. His role has not yet been revealed.
- Fans are already speculating which part the data star will take on. Could it be Data’s brother Lore?
- Lore was eliminated for being malicious, but his consciousness may have survived.
“Star Trek: Picard” season 3 is scheduled to start streaming on Amazon Prime Video in 2023, but what would ” Star Trek: Picard ” be without Brent Spiner? The Star Trek: The Next Century star has previously been known as Data, Dr. Altan Inigo Soong and Dr. Adam Soong appeared and in the final season of the series he will have another role in the series.
Spiner has been announced as part of the Next Century reunion, but while his co-stars are clear about their roles, Spiner remains a mystery. The only info we have is that it’s an “old new character”.
What that means is unclear. Spiner has played almost every member of the Soong family in the Star Trek universe. Noonien Soong is the creator of Data and his ancestors, including Adam, are mostly a little bit evil. But it doesn’t have to be a Soong that Spiner plays in Season 3 of Star Trek: Picard.
For example, an old new character would also be a familiar character in a new synthetic body, and fans are speculating that Lore might return. Lore is Data’s twin who comes to the conclusion that androids are superior to humans. That’s why he even joins the Borg.
Lore is knocked out, but as we learned from Data, consciousness can survive and be turned back on. However, Lore as seen in “The Next Century” will not be able to return. Androids don’t age, but Brent Spiner does!
However, a new android that looks older could be created. For example with Altan Inigo Soong as a role model, in which the consciousness of Lore is then implanted. Thematically, a return of Lore would definitely make sense.
