The upcoming series that is gonna goof you up and a doze of laughter will give you a stomachache. The series Survival of the Thickest will journey through the eyes of Mavis, an aspiring plus-size fashion designer who gets betrayed by her boyfriend. She now has to get back into her life and get her dreams on track. The series is set to be released on 13 July on Netflix. Take a look at the amazing cast of Survival of the Fittest-
Michelle Buteau- MAVIS
At 38, Mavis is an assistant to a leading fashion designer and is almost reaching the pinnacle of her career when her boyfriend, whom she loves and works shows infidelity. During fashion shoots, her creativity takes a pick and now she is about to take life on her terms.
Known as the standup comic for almost two decades, Buteau won a special place in her audience’s heart in Welcome to Buteaupia. She starred in Always Be My Maybe, Marry Me and Isn’t It Romantic and write a collection of essays. Survival of the Thickest, is tuned into a Netflix original is her own book and sharing its title, marks her first series as co-creator, star and executive producer.
Tone Bell- KHALIL
Who doesn’t want to have a best friend? A person who gives a shoulder to cry and listens when you bitch around about people you hate. Khalil is that best friend to Mavis in Survival Of The Thickest. He’s quick to steer her straight. “Do not breathe life into that silly-ass narrative,” Khalil tells her. He is an art instructor who’s never bein’ in any relationship for long term and is falling hard for one of his adult students.
A stint teaching elementary school no doubt prepared Bell for a career in comedy. He is known for roles in Key and Peele, The Flash and Whitney.
Tasha Smith- MARLEY
Mavis’ other bestie in Survival Of The Thickest has a horsepower of infinity. She takes the command in the boardroom at her finance job. She can knock up anybody when it comes to standing up for her friends: Marley was always aware of Mavis’s boyfriend turning into a jerk but her belief in Mavis’ success in life and love is always determined by her. She even has unexpectedly begun to acknowledge a different romantic trajectory of her own.
Smith is known for her roles in First Wives Club, Empire, Running Out of Time Dolemite Is My Name and The Corner. She’s been nominated for NAACP Image Awards in acting and directing.
Liza Treyger-JADE
As Mavis moves out of her apartment where she lived with her boyfriend; her new abode is a messy Brooklyn apartment share with Jade, the quirky roommate who always puts her nose into trouble and is never at home but is a warm-hearted person in Survival Of The Thickest, up in Mavis’ business.
Treyger is known for her roles in Nope and The King of Staten Island as well as her own half-hour special in the Netflix series The Degenerates.
Taylor Selé- JACQUE
A fashion photographer who is always crowded with models at work still loves his favorite model and muse Mavis. He has been in live-in with her for five years. After Mavis discovers his infidelity, he claims it was a one-time thing and is willing to stop at nothing to win her back. Now the question is- Will Mavis go to him back?
The former NFL player Selé is known for his recurring roles in the show named for the borough in which he grew up — Queens — and in P-Valley. Survival Of The Thickest has given him an interesting role.
Anissa Felix- INDIA
A generous and talented student in Khalil’s painting class, India’s powers of observation extend to her apartment. She may lack furniture and some décor but also her readiness for a long-term relationship. But does the complicated nature of her own life have room for Khalil?
Although she’s appeared in episodes of The Good Fight and Tommy, Survival of the thickest is Felix’s big TV debut. You may recognize her name from Broadway, where she’s appeared in Motown the Musical, Summer: The Donna Summer Musical and alongside Glenn Close in a revival of Sunset Boulevard.
