- The plot of the new episodes is based on the second and third books of Robert Jordan’s “Wheel of Time” cycle.
- No wonder The Wheel of Time season 2 has been ordered. In the winter of 2022, we can certainly expect new episodes!
The first season of the fantasy series “The Wheel of Time” could definitely inspire, and fans are sitting on hot coals while waiting for season 2 on Amazon Prime Video. Filming is already underway and you can see “Killing Eve” star Ayoola Smart in an important role in the new episodes.
The Wheel of Time Season 2 Release Date: Is there a start date?

No official start date for The Wheel of Time season 2 has been announced yet. Since the new episodes are already being filmed, it is quite possible that the new episodes will start as early as winter 2022.
Amazon Prime Video has already given the fall 2022 slot to “The Lord of the Rings” series, so it’s unlikely that Amazon (The Boys season 4, Mr. Mayor Season 3, Electric Dreams Season 2) will send these two highlights into the competition.
Is there a trailer for The Wheel of Time Season 2?
There is no trailer yet, but there is a behind-the-scenes video from the set of season 2. At San Diego Comic-Con 2022, the video was presented in the panel on the fantasy series.
The Wheel of Time Season 2: What’s the plot?
Who is alive? Who is really dead?
At the end of the first season, Rand and his companions go their separate ways. As a reborn dragon, Rand was able to defeat the Dark King, but it is a temporary victory. With the knowledge of the past reborn dragons, Rand does not want to endanger his friends.
After all, the reborn dragons are close to insanity and have killed their friends and family. Rand asks Moiraine to tell his friends that he has fallen to prevent this from happening. Thus, Rand is now on his own.
Moiraine has lost her access to the One Power, but at least her protector Lan has found her again, so they are together. Perrin has witnessed a massacre and seems to be the only survivor, but Loial will still return in season 2 and, according to showrunner Rafe Judkins, has survived.
The Wheel Of Time: What the Books Tell Us
The six episodes (so far) of the first season should roughly cover the first volume of the fantasy cycle of “The Wheel of Time.” Check out our episode guide for “The Wheel of Time” for episode summaries! The title of the first episode of season 2 indicates that the sequel will not only cover book 2, but also the third volume.
Showrunner Rafe Judkins has already confirmed that the characters’ plots were taken from both the second and third volumes. He said that since all 15 books are to be adapted, many plots had to be boiled down to their most important parts so that the crucial character moments remain contained.
Rand al’Thor must follow his destiny as a reborn dragon and lead the forces of light against the Dark King. Not an easy task for the son of simple country folk. His destiny often seems to crush him, but he can trust his companions’ help.
On his travels, Rand is joined by other allies, including the cool warrior Gaul and Perrin’s wife Zarine Bashere, who took the name Faile as the Hunter of the Horn. Even as the ranks of Rand’s companions grow, the Dark King is just waiting for a favorable opportunity to strike back.
The Wheel of Time Season 2: Cast and crew
Guy Roberts (“Hanna”), Arnas Fedaravicius (“The Last Kingdom”) and Gregg Chillingirian (“A Discovery of Witches”) will join the cast of the fantasy series’ second season. Roberts will play Uno Nomesta, a one-eyed soldier who serves Lord Agelmar.
Fedaravicius plays Masema, an introverted warrior, also in the service of Lord Agelmar. Chillingirian embodies Ingtar Shinowa, a lord and soldier from a war-torn area.
As if that wasn’t enough, other cast additions have been announced: actress Ceara Coveney will appear as the main character, embodying the role of Elayne Trakand, popular among fans of the book.
Series stars Natasha O’Keeffe (“Peaky Blinders”) and Meera Syal (“Broadchurch”) have also been signed on for lead roles. However, it is unclear which characters the two actresses will play.

New to the cast is Ayoola Smart (“Killing Eve”). Smart will take on the role of Speermaid Aviendha. She is the mistress of Rand al’Thor, one of the people suspected of being the Dragon Reborn. Beyond that, little is known yet about her role is and whether her Aviendha will shape the story of the second season.
The Wheel of Time Season 2: Production
Season 1 was made in cooperation between Amazon Studios and Sony Pictures Television. This will not change for The Wheel of Time Season 2, with Rafe Judkins (“Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.”) returning as executive producer. Amanda Kate Shuman wrote the script for the first episode of The Wheel of Time Season 2.
For The Wheel of Time Season 2, Sanaa Hamri has been secured as executive producer and director for half of the episodes. Hamri’s best-known series to date is the drama “Empire” from the US channel Fox (The Orville Season 4), where she also served as Exec. Producer and Director.
